FAES Participates In African American Read In

Farrell Area Elementary School along with volunteers from Westminster College and community members joined in for the eighth consecutive year with over a million readers for the National African American Read-In. Keynote readers from the community and Westminster College read books authored by African Americans to students in grades K through sixth.
 
 The National African American Read-In was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). The purpose of the event was to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month and to encourage diversity in literature. It has reached over six million participants worldwide.
