The Mercer County NAACP Unit will award two $1000.00 scholarships.
The awardees will be announced this Spring and the scholarships will be mailed in the Fall.
Eligibility
- Must be a high school senior from Mercer County or Brookfield, Ohio area with a 3.0 GPA – transcripts required
- Applicants must have applied and been accepted into a 2 year, 4 year college or a trade school (documentation required)
- Applicants must have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service and extracurricular activities
- Applicant must submit the application form by the deadline.
- Two letters of recommendation (typed, dated and signed – NO FAMILY MEMBERS PLEASE
- An essay by the applicant, typed, no more than 500 words on the following question:
- Scholarship is forfeited if awardee does not attend in the first year after high school
Two weeks before Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated he stated, “if you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness”.
