Letter From the Superintendent
Dear Parent/Guardian:

As we prepare to begin the 2021- 2022 school year, it is important that we update you on our current health and safety protocols.

Unfortunately, we (as a nation) are still dealing with the COVID pandemic. For that reason, the Farrell Area School District will be utilizing the following mitigation measures:
  • Temperature checks will be required for everyone entering our buildings through thermal camera machines.
  • Visitors will be admitted to the building on an as need/limited basis. Any visitor coming into the building will be required to complete a screening (which will include temperature check) prior to being allowed into the building.
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers will be located in each classroom.
  • Hand Sanitizing Stations will be located in common areas.
  • After classrooms are thoroughly cleaned each day, electrostatic disinfection foggers will be used to provide the rooms with additional disinfecting and sanitization.
  • Cleaning products that will be used by our custodial/maintenance department are from the CDC recommended list of cleaning and disinfecting products that are to be used to kill the COVID-19 virus.
  • We will continue to maintain small class sizes.
  • Some elementary grade levels will eat breakfast and lunch in their classrooms in order to allow for a smaller number of students to eat in the cafeteria.
  • Our new HVAC system causes the state required fresh air infiltration to occur in each classroom
    district-wide.
At this time, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania nor the federal government have mandated the wearing of face masks. Therefore, the wearing of face masks, though recommended, will be optional for all students and staff during and after school hours. This could change should conditions warrant it. Mask wearing is mandated by the federal government for everyone who is a passenger, driver, etc. while on school transportation. This includes any type of busing that occurs, before, during, or after school, even on weekends and during school breaks.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me or an FASD administrator. Thank you for your ongoing cooperation and support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Lora Adams-King
