Farrell Elementary Honors Veterans
Third grade students sing to community veterans during the ninth annual Veterans Day program
On Monday, November 11, 2019, the Elementary School participated in their ninth annual Veterans Day Program. Farrell School District Superintendent, Dr. Adams-King, welcomed the 15 honored veterans who are Farrell School District employees, alumni, community members, parents, or grandparents from the Farrell/Wheatland community to the program. Students in grades two through six, under the direction of Mr. Don Hixon entertained the veterans and community guests by singing “America the Beautiful,” “God Bless America,” and “Armed Forces on Parade.” They were accompanied by the Farrell Area High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Ian McCann. The band also performed “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “Sweet Land of Liberty,” “Stars and Stripes Forever,” and “Taps.” Third grade students, under the direction of homeroom teachers Mrs. Donatelli, Mrs. Ondo, and Mr. Turosky, with support by Mrs. McGill, Ms. Taylor, and Mr. Rust additionally sang “Grateful Nation” for our veterans. Three sixth grade Quest students, Nahla Gaines, Juelz Johnson, and Daniel Odem recited poetry for the guest and assisted with other parts of the program. Ms. Wright closed out the program thanking the veterans one final time and inviting all to attend the Veterans Parade. Ms. Aiello was the coordinator for this years program.
