PIAA Suspension of Activies and Potential COVID-19 Exposure

August 7, 2020

This afternoon the PIAA Board of Directors met in order to review Governor Wolf’s statement strongly urging against interscholastic and recreational sports until January 1, 2021.  They will reconvene on August 21, 2020.  In the meantime, mandatory sports activities are paused during this two-week period.

Furthermore, it has come to the attention of the Farrell Area School District that some of our students have potentially been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.  Though the potential exposure did not occur on the grounds of the Farrell Area School District or within its’ facilities, in an abundance of caution, all voluntary workouts and extra-curricular activities will be suspended until August 18, 2020.  Should this situation change, and extra-curricular activities be permitted to resume sooner, each extra-curricular group will be notified.

During this time, the Farrell Area School District will continue to rigorously and diligently prepare for the 2020 – 2021 school year with the health and safety of our students and staff always first and foremost.

Sincerely,

Dr. Lora Adams-King
